The fuller derivation this dataset is chartered to grow into (not yet what the figures above are; they are each source's own published figure as read): The retail price of a bunded domestic tank per capacity, read from the retailers who list one, set against the FITTED price the installers quote - so the buyer can see what the labour, the base and the pipework actually add.

Nobody publishes that gap: retailers list ex-VAT tank prices per model, installers quote an all-in figure, and the two are never on the same page.

The figures are the median tank price per capacity band and per material, the median fitted price, the derived installation premium (tank price subtracted from fitted price), the spread between the cheapest and dearest listing of the SAME model across retailers, and repriced-since - which on this market is frequent, because the listings carry sale prices against regular prices.
